A Life of Service, Leadership, and Homecoming
Randy Malone’s story begins in the quiet town of Holly Grove, Arkansas—a place where values run deep and people look out for one another. It was there that he learned the meaning of community, hard work, and integrity—principles that would carry him through a distinguished career of service and leadership across the globe.
After graduating with a degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville University in Florida, Randy took a bold leap, earning his commission through the Navy’s Enlisted Commissioning Program in 1998. From that moment forward, he didn’t just serve—he led, inspired, and built teams grounded in trust and mission.
Over the course of a 25-year career, CAPT (ret) Malone served aboard ships from Charleston to Mayport, from Texas to the Middle East. His roles were as varied as they were vital—from shipboard commands to pivotal shore assignments. One of his proudest achievements was serving as the commissioning Commanding Officer of USS Sioux City (LCS 11), shaping its legacy from the ground up.
But Randy’s impact extended far beyond the water. He brought that same spirit of service to leadership roles ashore, including time at CENTCOM as Secretary of the Joint Staff, and overseas as Deputy Commander of Naval Forces Korea. He also holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Military Science from the Air Force’s Air Command and Staff College—yet another chapter in his lifelong commitment to growth and excellence.
After retiring from active duty in February 2024, Randy returned to Arkansas, settling in Heber Springs with his wife, Randee—his partner in life and adventure, who hails from Mount Ida. Retirement hasn’t slowed him down. Today, he serves as the Chairman of the USS Arkansas Commissioning Committee, continuing his dedication to the Navy and his home state.
With over two decades of leadership experience, global deployments to every corner of the world, and a chest full of hard-earned medals, Randy’s mission remains the same: lead with heart, serve with purpose, and never forget where you came from.
