Bill Ridgeway

Dedicated Sailor, Lifelong Mentor, and Champion for Veterans

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and raised across Jacksonville, Mabelvale, and Little Rock, Bill Ridgeway's early years were rooted in resilience and adaptability. A proud graduate of Little Rock Central High School’s Golden Anniversary class, Bill charted his own course when he joined the U.S. Navy in 1980.

Over the next 22 years, Chief Ridgeway built an extraordinary career as a nuclear-trained Electrician’s Mate, serving aboard several ships including USS Sumter, USS Los Alamos, USS Wasp (as a plankowner), USS O’Bannon, and USS Gonzalez, among others. From shipboard electrical systems to quality assurance programs and training initiatives, Bill became known not only for his technical expertise but also for his natural leadership and drive to improve every command he touched.

Throughout his career, he consistently broke ground—from being the first Third Class Petty Officer on his ship to earn Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, to leading major overhaul efforts without a supervising Chief, to digitizing the maintenance systems at the Naval Submarine Support Facility in Groton, CT. His deep commitment earned him numerous accolades, including multiple Navy Commendation and Achievement Medals, Battle “E” awards, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Bill retired from the Navy in 2002, but his mission of service never stopped. Since 2010, he has worked as the Veterans Intensive Services Coordinator for Arkansas Workforce Connections, helping veterans transition back into the workforce with dignity and purpose. He continues to serve those who served, connecting VA programs with career opportunities across the state.

Bill lives in Cabot, Arkansas with his wife, Carole. Together, they share a blended family filled with love—two children, several stepchildren, ten grandchildren, and four beloved fur babies: Lucy, Luna, Heidi, and Ruby. Whether it’s in uniform, the community, or at home, Chief Ridgeway remains a steadfast advocate for service, family, and integrity.
